The Social Security Administration (SSA) provided a 32-minute webinar that explains how to register to use its Business Services Online (BSO). The webinar slide presentation and Q&As are also available.
Updated Registration Process
In March 2023, the Social Security Administration updated the registration process to access BSO accounts. The change affects users of Wage File Upload, W-2 Online, W-2c Online, AccuWage Online, and the Social Security Number Verification Service (SSNVS).
A BSO UserID and password can no longer be used to access BSO employer services. Users must have a Social Security Online account, Login.gov, or ID.me credential to gain access to BSO.
Users who have not signed in to BSO since March 25, 2023, should sign in now and take action to avoid delays. Users will not be able to use employer and wage reporting services without the required credential and authentication.
Allow Two Weeks for Registration
Users should allow a minimum of two weeks for the registration process to be completed. Users who forget their passwords may have to wait up to 10 business days before receiving a new password via the U.S. mail. As a reminder, Forms W-2 are due to the SSA by January 31.
