Register Now, Avoid Tax Reform on the CPP, FPC Exam

Good news, payroll professionals. You don’t have to worry about tax reform. At least you don’t when it comes time to take the spring 2018 CPP or FPC exams.

That’s because the spring 2018 certification exams are based on U.S. federal rules and regulations that applied to payroll processing on January 1, 2017. This means that recent changes created by the Tax Reform law passed in December 2017 (the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act) will NOT be tested during the spring 2018 exam window, which will be held from March 24-April 21.

“I’ve spoken to a few different payroll professionals who were worried about changes caused by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act,” said Bob Wagner, APA’s Senior Director of IT, Certification, and Public Relations. “They were relieved to hear that the changes caused by Tax Reform will not be reflected on the CPP and FPC exams this spring. Since they did not need to wait for any further rules or regs clarifications from IRS, they breathed a big sigh of relief and then signed up immediately for spring 2018 exams.”

So what are you waiting for? Take the exam now before the new tax reform legislation becomes a part of it. Being credentialed as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or with Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) will enhance your career and solidify your credibility.
