PayrollOrg Supports Pennsylvania Artificial Intelligence Study Bill

Written by PayrollOrg Staff | Sep 16, 2026, 2:30:00 PM

PayrollOrg supported Pennsylvania H.B. 2705, the Artificial Intelligence Workforce Impact Act, in August and offered information about artificial intelligence (AI) in the payroll industry. Members wanted to take part in studies and oversight of AI in the workplace, particularly to ensure that research, laws, and regulations that impact payroll operations are distinguished from human resources and other employer usage.

While there are risks with using AI in the workplace, AI can be a useful tool to better manage certain payroll management tasks. AI does not eliminate the need for human oversight to ensure that employees are paid accurately and on time and that other legal requirements are managed correctly. AI can center on certain tasks in payroll management to relieve the operational burden without displacing payroll managers.

Going forward, payroll professionals will be able to focus more strategically to become key advisors within their organizations and to legislators and regulators by using payroll data more effectively.
