National Payroll Week® (NPW), September 7–11, celebrates the payroll professionals who help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time. This year’s theme, “Every Paycheck Creates Possibility,” recognizes the powerful impact payroll has on workers, businesses, and communities.
Each paycheck helps employees cover daily expenses, save for the future, and work toward personal goals. Behind every one of those opportunities are payroll professionals whose work helps make those possibilities a reality.
Whether you want to make an impact in your community or celebrate within your workplace, there are many meaningful ways to get involved in NPW this year.
Your efforts will help make this year’s NPW memorable and meaningful for your community. Through appreciation, education, or community involvement, here are some ways you can celebrate:
Help NPW reach a wider audience by sharing NPW content on social media using #PayrollWeek and tagging @PayrollOrg. Post photos from your NPW celebration, highlight members of your payroll team, or encourage your audience to take the NPW survey.
You can also use your channels to spotlight the many ways paychecks create possibilities, from supporting families and future goals to strengthening workplaces and communities.
Extend the impact of NPW beyond the workplace by becoming a Money Matters volunteer. Sponsored by Chime, PayrollOrg’s Money Matters program brings practical paycheck education to young adults across the United States, helping them better understand paychecks and feel more confident as they enter the workforce.
Money Matters also introduces students to payroll as a vital and growing career path, inspiring the next generation to consider a profession that truly powers every paycheck.
Register your organization as an official NPW Supporter to join the nationwide celebration and help recognize the important work of payroll professionals. Participation is free, and eligible organizations are featured on the NPW website and recognized in the NPW recap video shown to thousands at Payroll Congress, giving national visibility to your commitment to the payroll profession.
Celebrating NPW is a powerful way to recognize your payroll professionals, strengthen employee understanding, and highlight the vital role payroll plays across your organization. Here are some ways you can celebrate in your workplace:
Payroll professionals make an impact far beyond payday. Their work supports employees, families, businesses, and communities every day of the year.
Use NPW as an opportunity to recognize your team behind that impact through simple gestures such as a team lunch, appreciation messages, staff spotlights, or notes of thanks from employees and leaders. Even small acts of recognition can reinforce payroll’s contribution to employee trust, financial well-being, compliance, and the overall workplace experience, while showing payroll professionals that their work is seen, valued, and appreciated.
NPW is the perfect time to encourage employees to review the information that helps ensure a smooth and accurate payday. A “Paycheck Checkup” can remind employees to confirm key details, including personal information, direct deposit, deductions, tax withholding, and where to go with payroll questions.
Share the information as a quick checklist, email, intranet post, flyer, carousel graphic, or short campaign throughout the week. Even a simple reminder can encourage employees to take a more active role in keeping their paycheck information accurate and up to date.
This year’s theme offers a meaningful way to connect NPW to employees’ everyday lives. Invite employees to share what payday helps make possible for them, whether that is saving for a home, supporting family, paying for school, or planning something special.
Responses can be collected anonymously and shared through an internal campaign, appreciation wall, or digital board. By connecting payroll’s work to real stories and everyday moments, the activity brings this year’s theme to life and demonstrates how every paycheck creates possibility.
However you choose to celebrate, your participation helps spotlight the payroll professionals whose work supports employees, businesses, and communities every day. This NPW, take the opportunity to recognize payroll’s impact, connect employees to the meaning behind payday, and celebrate the opportunities made possible through every paycheck.
Don’t forget to use #PayrollWeek and tag @PayrollOrg so we can help you expand your reach.
