Two government executives with strong ties to the state of California will address attendees at the APA’s 37th Annual Congress, being held in Long Beach May 14-18.
A highlight of the Annual Congress is always the Federal Government Executive General Session, which will be held Friday morning, May 17, from 8:00-9:30 a.m. You won’t want to miss hearing from key players in the current administration as they discuss issues that impact payroll and how they are working to implement change.
Chuck Rettig, Commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, will have a homecoming of sorts during his stay at the conference. Rettig, who was appointed by President Trump and sworn into office in October 2018, is a native of Los Angeles and was a partner with the Beverly Hills tax law firm Hochman, Salkin, Rettig, Toscher & Perez, P.C., prior to his appointment.
Grace Kim, Acting Deputy Commissioner for Operations with the Social Security Administration, began her service with the federal government in 1989. In 2013, she was appointed as SSA’s Regional Commissioner of the San Francisco Region, responsible for SSA’s operations in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and the Far Pacific. She assumed her current role as Acting Deputy Commissioner for Operations in January 2019.
At last year’s Federal Government Executive General Session, three agency speakers kept the audience deeply engaged: OCSE Commissioner Scott Lekan, IRS Acting Commissioner David Kautter, and head of the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division, Bryan Jarrett. This year’s session is sure to be just as valuable.
The 37th Annual Congress will also feature two Forums on Federal Payroll Issues where experts from federal agencies will answer payroll questions.
