activpayroll Recognized in Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100

activpayroll, the global payroll and tax compliance specialist headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland, is one of the eight Scottish companies placed on the league table of Britain’s Fastest Growing Profit Stars.

The 19th annual Sunday Times BDO Profit Track 100 league table ranks Britain’s private companies with the fastest-growing profits over three years. The eight companies headquartered in Scotland were all new entrants to the league table and have made a strong contribution to the country’s economy.

Alison Sellar, CEO of activpayroll, said the company has seen its global footprint expand with contracts with some of the world’s leading household names.

“We’ve focused a lot on our technology and invested in our people who are our most important asset,” Sellar said. “This award is a great way to celebrate this year’s successes and a fantastic recognition to each and every single employee at activpayroll for the dedication and hard work put in their daily job.”

L.A. Dodgers Use UltiPro to Help Resolve Payroll, HR Challenges

Ultimate Software, a provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions in the cloud, announced that the Los Angeles Dodgers, a U.S. professional baseball team and a member club of Major League Baseball (MLB), is using UltiPro to help the organization achieve goals related to compliance, scaling growth, and workforce intelligence.

The baseball organization oversees approximately 1,200 seasonal game-day staff and 375 full-time employees, including scouts in 27 states. With a fluctuating and traveling workforce, the organization handles a number of HR and payroll challenges, including managing multi-jurisdiction tax withholdings for player salaries and scaling its workforce at various times throughout the year.

Eric Hernandez, Vice President of Finance for the Dodgers, said the MLB industry is known for complicated payroll issues such as players living and working in different jurisdictions.

“Prior to UltiPro, when our team visited an unfamiliar jurisdiction, our payroll department was responsible for setting up a tax ID and filing with the right city, state, county, or tax authority,” Hernandez said. “With UltiPro’s out-of-the-box features for managing compliance, the technology provides guidance on identifying the correct payroll tax rates and updates so we no longer need to contract with a third-party tax service.”
