Federal Payroll Workshops at 2022 Payroll Congress

On May 10-13, the APA and the Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI) will hold the 40th Annual Payroll Congress Convention and Expo in Las Vegas. Payroll Congress will offer numerous workshop sessions covering federal payroll topics, including the following:

Forum on Federal Payroll Issues

On Wednesday, May 11, a two-part workshop will feature federal government agency representatives answering important regulatory questions that affect payroll. Agencies represented include: the IRS, Social Security Administration, Office of Child Support Enforcement, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, and U.S. Department of Labor.

Tuesday, May 10: Employment Taxes

Prevention of Overpaid Employment Taxes will identify common causes of overpaid employment taxes, such as state unemployment insurance rate revisions and out of state wage credits. Attendees will learn ways to mitigate these overpayments and efficient ways to recover them.

Wednesday, May 11: Forms 1099-NEC and 1099-MISC

1099-NEC and 1099-MISC Reporting: Federal and State Requirements will introduce the forms and discuss their impact on the accounts payable process.

Wednesday and Thursday, May 11 and 12: Fringe Benefits

The two-part Taxable and Nontaxable Fringe Benefits will help attendees identify fringe benefits. Spoiler: To the IRS, cash is always taxable.

Friday, May 13: Correcting Form W-2

Correcting the W-2: Form W-2c to 941-X and More will discuss Form W-2 corrections and explain when and how to use Form W-2c, Form 941-X, and other tax forms along with the journal entries to correct the general ledger.
