Federal Agency Executives Answer Payroll Questions at APA Congress

Read what federal agency executives had to say when they answered questions submitted by participants at the American Payroll Association’s 36th Annual Congress in National Harbor, Maryland, held May 15-19, 2018.

The questions and answers are available exclusively in a two-part Special Report in PAYROLL CURRENTLY’s July and August issues (Issues 7 and 8). PAYROLL CURRENTLY is APA’s monthly compliance newsletter for payroll professionals and is free for members as a benefit of APA membership.

Members of this year’s panel were: Scott Pedersen, Social Security Administration (SSA); Derrick Witherspoon, Wage and Hour Division (WHD), U.S. Department of Labor (DOL); Christine Schott, DOL; Sherri Grigsby, Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE); and Dave Basham, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Key topics include: correcting a social security number; handling bonus payments; lump-sum garnishment reporting; calculating compensable travel time for employees; and determining which documents can be provided for completing the Form I-9.
