Don’t Forget to Recertify Before the End of 2019

The American Payroll Association (APA) would like to remind you to recertify before the end of the year.

Recertification Credit Hours (RCHs) are the official recertification units used by the APA’s certification programs. RCHs are defined as the number of actual clock hours spent as a participant or instructor in direct participation in a structured educational format.

Login with your APA credentials to access the recertification log.

Recertification Period

Candidates may begin tracking their RCHs immediately after earning their certification through December 31 of the year in which their certification expires.

  • For the FPC, certification expires after three (3) years. FPCs must earn at least 60 RCHs during the 3-year recertification period to recertify by education.
  • For the CPP, certification expires after five (5) years. CPPs must earn at least 120 RCHs during the 5-year recertification period to recertify by education.

Once a CPP or FPC recertifies at least once through continuing education, the individual will earn RCHs toward their next recertification beginning January 1 of the year following the year during which they recertified.

As a reminder, all applications, recertification logs, and a directory of CPPs and FPCs were recently launched—all online. Read more about this in an earlier article on the news section of the APA’s website.
