IRS Senior Tax Analyst Joe Guillen was awarded APA’s 2019 Government Partner Award at APA’s 37th Annual Congress in Long Beach, California. Guillen has devoted significant time to helping payroll professionals with compliance issues. For the past seven years he has served in the IRS’s National Public Liaison office as the payroll industry’s relationship manager, where he has helped identify IRS presenters for APA conferences and also delivered APA’s recommendations to the appropriate IRS employees, all the while promoting the value of stakeholder engagement to agency leaders.
Guillen said he was surprised to receive the award. “What a privilege and honor it is to be here and provide the latest and the greatest from the IRS,” Guillen said. “I truly believe in collaboration and engagement.”
Guillen was presented the award on May 17 at the end of the Federal Government Executive General Session during which the SSA’s Acting Deputy Commissioner for Operations Grace Kim, Esq., and IRS Commissioner Chuck Rettig, Esq., spoke about the importance of payroll professionals and APA to their agencies’ success.
