Virtual Capital Summit Features Important Federal Payroll Developments

On March 15-17, APA will hold its Virtual Capital Summit, sponsored by DailyPay. Government decision-makers and private-sector experts will speak on a range of topics, including agency perspectives on paid sick leave, data security, government agency modernization and online services, employment verification and the right-to-work, and child support collaboration to improve communication.

This year’s Virtual Capital Summit will feature representatives from the IRS, U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), National Taxpayer Advocate office, Office of Child Support Enforcement, Social Security Administration, U.S. Department of Justice, and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.

New Sessions

The event will have all new sessions, including the following:

• Federal Agency Perspectives on Sick Leave. Representatives from the IRS and the DOL’s Wage and Hour Division will discuss the role of government in mandatory requirements for paid and unpaid sick leave.
• Payroll Links to the IRS’s National Public Liaison Office. Melvin Hardy, Director of the IRS’s Office of National Public Liaison (NPL), will explain how the office is “the listening wing” for the agency and stakeholders.
• Working With Agencies on Data Security. Luanne Brown, CPP, Director of Payroll Services for Grand Valley State University, and Jenine Hallings, Payroll Tax Compliance Manager for Paychex, Inc., will share insights from working with federal agencies as APA representatives.
