USCIS Extends Form I-9 Expiration Date

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) updated Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, and its instructions to extend the expiration date to May 31, 2027 [USCIS, USCIS Extends Form I-9 Expiration Date, 8-2-24]. The edition date did not change.

The form and instructions have no other changes.

Employers Should Use New Form

Employers can continue to use the previous Form I-9 with an expiration date of July 31, 2026. Either form may be used until its respective expiration date, but USCIS encourages employers to update their systems as soon as possible to use the updated Form I-9.

USCIS’s Form I-9 download webpage will include only the updated form with an expiration date of May 31, 2027.
