The SSA/IRS Reporter, Third Quarter 2023, contains three articles written by PayrollOrg (PAYO): “IRS to provide more options for filing 941-X, other forms in 2024,” “IRS reminds employers to take advantage of WOTC,” and “IRS encourages employees to check withholding.” The quarterly e-newsletter is published by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and the IRS.
The following are highlights from the articles:
- Modernization. The first article explains how the IRS is continuing its efforts to modernize its core technology infrastructure to enable better service. It is also developing more options for employers to file forms in 2024, including electronic filing of Form 941-X.
- WOTC. The IRS is encouraging businesses to take advantage of the work opportunity tax credit (WOTC), which is a federal tax credit available to employers that hire workers who are in groups that face significant barriers to employment.
- Paycheck checkup. The last article focuses on the IRS’s annual reminder that employers should tell employees to check their withholding annually and when major life changes occur.
