The federal Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) has released a revised version of the standard child support withholding order, Income Withholding for Support (IWO) order/notice and Instructions [OCSE, AT-20-13, 10-1-20].

OCSE made changes to the IWO and instructions based on comments received from states, employers, and the judicial community. The APA submitted comments on the proposed changes to the IWO and instructions.

While states and tribes should begin using the new IWO immediately, OCSE recognizes that some groups may need additional programming time to update their systems. Employers and other income withholders are directed to continue to honor previous forms for new income withholdings until September 30, 2021.The new version of the IWO has an “OMB Expiration Date” of September 30, 2023.
