Joining host Brent Skinner on Episode 014: History Is on the Side of Strategic Payroll, Medlock discussed the historical changes he has witnessed in the payroll profession and how those changes can position payroll as a strategic partner to the C-suite. They explored how changes in competencies and technology empowers payroll to aid strategic decision-making—such as in mergers and acquisitions (M&A)—and why it is better to involve payroll in such decisions sooner than later. They also touched on the need to pass down the institutional knowledge of seasoned professionals experienced with processing payroll from scratch, for those times when technology fails.
