Beginning November 15, employers will be able to use the new Iowa online portal, GovConnectIowa, to register a business, file withholding returns, and make withholding payments. This is a modernization effort and provides taxpayers, businesses, and tax professionals with a new and secure portal.
The new portal (used by the Iowa Department of Revenue (DOR) and other state agencies) will allow forms to be filed using the employer’s permit number rather than the old eFile & Pay Business eFile number (BEN). Service providers and bulk filers may view the new bulk file requirements and test files using the new portal. To begin testing, email CSP-BulkFilers@iowa.gov.
As of November 15, all Forms W-2 and 1099 must be submitted via the new portal. The old system (eFile & Pay) will continue to be available for withholding filing and payments through February 4, 2022.
