Increase Financial Literacy of Future Generations

Written by Yasmelin Flores | Aug 14, 2024 3:05:04 PM

As a new generation enters the workforce, it is important to make sure they understand their first few paychecks. Luckily, we created Money Matters (formerly known as Money Matters National Education Day or MMNED) to fight financial illiteracy with the help of volunteers around the country. Money Matters relies on experienced payroll professionals like you to educate young adults on essential paycheck basics.

Volunteering is easy; Just head to the Money Matters webpage on the NPW website and complete the registration form. Once you submit the sign-up form, you will be able to access the “Bring Home the Gold” lesson plan, which includes the teacher lesson plan, student guide, and PowerPoint presentation. The lesson plan focuses on paycheck basics to help the future generation of workers better understand their paychecks. Lastly, decide where and when you would like to present the program. The digital versions of the lesson plan are designed to be taught either in-person or virtually from the comfort of your own desk.

All Money Matters volunteers will receive one RCH and a citation of recognition for their efforts. In 2023, 343 volunteers made a difference by teaching important payroll basics to students across their communities.

Remember—You can present as a group or individually. If presenting as a group, it’s vital that each member participating completes a separate volunteer form in order to receive recognition from PayrollOrg.

Money Matters is an incredible tool to educate young adults and help them gain confidence in financial literacy. Sign up today to volunteer.

Don’t stop there—Get involved by participating in our NPW contests!
