National Payroll Week, September 7-11, is the perfect time to let Team Payroll know how much you appreciate the essential role they fill for businesses and employees. We may not be able to shower appreciation on payroll professionals in-person this year, but you can still celebrate the amazing payroll professionals in your life with the use of these solutions (while social distancing):
Give a Token of Appreciation
Show members of your payroll team how much you appreciate them by gifting them with Team Payroll swag from the NPW Store. There are several NPW-themed options to satisfy every member on your team including Team Payroll t-shirts, a cuddly teddy bear, a multifunction water bottle, and more! Avoid in-person contact by sending your colleagues an NPW care package in the mail or leaving it as a surprise on their desk, because who doesn’t love receiving packages?
If you are looking to show your appreciation to team members with more general goodies that aren’t necessarily NPW related, there are many websites that offer great gifting services for any budget. For example, Greetabl allows you to create custom greetings that are accompanied by a variety of small gifts such as luxury soaps, candles, and sweets, and mail them directly to your payroll team.
Send Sweet Treats
Everyone loves an excuse to indulge in sweet treats and there is no better reason to treat you and your team than during National Payroll Week! Thanks to the plethora of online options available you can ensure everyone receives a sweet “thank-you” regardless of where they are working from these days. Online baker Cheyrls offers delicious customizable cookie greeting cards starting as low as $5 that are guaranteed to bring a smile to your team members’ faces. If cookies aren’t the snack of choice of some of your team members, there are a variety of other businesses offering edible appreciation treats available for delivery. Consider the Popcorn Factory, Edible Arrangements, or Harry & David as just a few options to start your search.
Send a “Thank You” Card
Never underestimate the power of the tried and true “thank you” card to brighten someone’s day! Mail traditional thank-you cards with a hand-written note of appreciation to your team members during NPW. If digital is more your style, there are several online greeting card services that will allow you to send custom digital thank you cards right to your team member’s inbox.
Virtual Luncheon
Thanks to various online tools, like Zoom, WebEx, and Google Hangouts, being together can be as easy as having a stable Internet connection. Consider hosting a virtual luncheon for your payroll team during NPW as a teambuilding opportunity and chance to relax. You could even play NPW or payroll related challenges or play virtual games using real-time online tools like Kahoot. This can add a fun engagement tool for your luncheon, and if you really want to up the ante, consider offering prizes to the game winners! If your budget allows for it, you can even go so far as sending each member of your team a gift card to their favorite lunchtime restaurant in advance.
Company-wide Acknowledgment
Make sure that your company’s payroll team still receives the recognition they deserve from the whole company by sharing digital NPW messages acknowledging your team and the importance of the payroll function. There are a number of digital platforms you can use. Consider any of the following to ensure your payroll team is recognized:
- Request to have info added to your company’s intranet
- Coordinate an NPW-themed email blast to the whole company
- Ask your company’s communications team to share a post to the company’s social media accounts recognizing your payroll team during NPW and tag it with #payrollweek
- Request an NPW message about your team be shared to your company’s employee self-service homepage during the week of NPW
- Add a special NPW message to your email signature line during the week of NPW
No matter how you choose to celebrate the members of your payroll team, remember that National Payroll Week is your time to say “thank you” to the amazing professionals responsible for keeping businesses in compliance and employees paid each payday with an accurate and on-time paycheck. Once you’ve decided how you’ll be celebrating Team Payroll in the workplace be sure to sign-up to join the official NPW Supporter Program. It’s free to join, and as APA’s way of saying “thanks” we’ll send you a special package to help you get in the NPW spirit!
