On August 18, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced that it is extending the filing deadline for the 2019 and 2020 Employer Information Report (EEO-1) Component 1 data until October 25 [EEOC, Announcements, 8-18-21].
The new due date is the “final deadline,” and the EEOC said there will be no more extensions. This is the second extension. In June, the EEOC extended the deadline until August 23 from the original due date of July 19.
The EEOC is encouraging filers to submit information as soon as possible. The agency also asked filers who have contacted the EEO-1 Component 1 help desk and are waiting for a response to be patient. The agency also requested filers to only contact the help desk once regarding the same issue.
Acquisitions, spinoffs, and mergers
The EEOC also announced modifications to its filing system to allow a company to bypass the help desk and directly report acquisitions, spinoffs, and mergers (ASMs) within the online filing system and then proceed with its filing. The EEOC created a PDF to explain how to report ASMs.
