At the Payroll Congress Convention and Expo in Las Vegas on May 12, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Commissioner Keith Sonderling will speak on “The Promise and Perils of Using Artificial Intelligence in Human Resources.”
In this workshop, Sonderling will address the implications of artificial intelligence (AI) for compliance with equal employment opportunity laws. AI-driven technologies have the potential to make the workplace more open, fair, and inclusive by eliminating unlawful discrimination from employment decisions. However, AI can also amplify workplace bias if it is poorly designed or carelessly deployed.
Sonderling will also suggest ways that employers can reap the benefits of AI while respecting the rights of workers. This subject is especially timely because of the way the response to COVID-19 accelerated the rate at which employers are adopting AI to do work once performed by human resource and payroll professionals.
