Make a difference in your community on September 5 and earn rewards when you volunteer to teach a Money Matters National Education Day (MMNED) lesson. For each person who completes the MMNED volunteer sign-up form, the APA will send you a volunteer care package from our MMNED Sponsor, Workday.
CLAIM YOUR FREE MMNED CARE PACKAGE
Inside the Workday volunteer care package you’ll find a t-shirt for yourself and giveaways to provide the students you present your MMNED lesson, including pop sockets and phone wallets. In addition, once you teach at least one MMNED lesson you’ll be eligible to receive 1 RCH towards payroll recertification.
This year’s “Bring Home The Gold” curriculum covers topics like gross pay, net pay, and deductions; federal and state taxes; and the benefits of direct deposit vs. paycards. The hour-long lesson is also interactive, with exercises that teach individuals how to fill out a Form W-4, calculate a paycheck, and calculate overtime pay. This year’s MMNED program even includes the exclusive opportunity for the students you teach to win one of three Workday, Inc. Money Matters National Education Day Scholarships.
“I teach a work readiness class for adult immigrants who are improving their English and work skills at the same time. The program works very well for them,” said Carolyn Corrie, Vocational ESL Instructor at Pasadena City College.
Join the MMNED mission on September 5 and throughout the year as payroll professionals from around the country teach important paycheck basics to high school classes, girl scout and boy scout troops, and other youth groups in their area.
What are you waiting for? It’s time to sign up to be a volunteer for Money Matters National Education Day! If getting a t-shirt isn’t enough motivation, volunteer on behalf of all the eager students who will take on their very first Form W-4 with confidence because you were the one that taught them how to fill it out.
