APA Offers Webinar on U.S. EEOC and Payroll

On March 4, the American Payroll Association will host Keith Sonderling, the Commissioner of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), at a 60-minute webinar about the EEOC and payroll with an eye toward preventing workplace discrimination. Register for U.S. EEOC and Payroll: Preventing Workplace Discrimination. It is free for APA members who will earn 1 RCH for attending.

The EEOC has a powerful impact on the workplace. This federal agency enforces federal laws prohibiting employers from paying employees differently based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetic information. From pay data collection to revised decision making processes, Commissioner Sonderling will describe current plans to prevent and remedy unlawful employment discrimination.

Sonderling was confirmed by the U.S. Senate in September 2020 to serve a term expiring in July 2024. He served as the EEOC’s vice chair until President Biden took office. Before this appointment, Sonderling served as the acting and deputy administrator of the Wage and Hour Division at the U.S. Department of Labor. He has been a speaker at APA’s Capital Summit, which allows attendees to hear directly from government agencies and industry experts on the important issues that impact payroll operations. Register for Virtual Capital Summit, which will be held March 15-17.
