Attendees will earn 1 RCH.
The bonus event will also feature a brief update on legislative and regulatory issues with APA Director of Payroll Training Laurel Serra, CPP.
The IRS and Payroll Relationship
When Rettig took the helm of the IRS, his goal was to improve the taxpayer experience through modernizing and restructuring. He was immediately faced with implementing the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) and the Taxpayer First Act (TFA). Then, he was faced with the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in which 90% of the IRS’s operations shifted to a virtual environment and emergency relief measures required immediate implementation.
During the pandemic, the IRS’s stakeholder relationship with payroll professionals became even more important. The emergency measures due to COVID-19 impacted federal tax withholding and filing at the same time employers were faced with changes under the TCJA and TFA. Rettig will address these challenges.
