For 40 years, the American Payroll Association’s Payroll Congress has been the show of the year not to miss. That’s why I am excited you’ll be joining us for our first in-person Congress since 2019. With four days of amazing educational and networking events, this is your chance to gain new knowledge and a better understanding of the many compliance requirements you have faced these past two years.

Now that you’ve endured a plethora of legislative changes the pandemic brought upon the industry, it is time to move forward with the American Payroll Association and the Global Payroll Management Institute because, as they say in showbiz, “The show must go on.”

That iconic and oft-used phrase, however, doesn’t just apply to the spotlight synonymous with Broadway shows or concert performances. After all, payroll is the longest running show in history because of YOUR dedication, endurance, and performance. So, in a way, it seems right you that are coming back for the American Payroll Association’s 40th year and gathering at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.

One of the best ways to move forward and advance your show-stopping payroll technical and leadership skills, is to learn from those who have achieved success as payroll professionals within our industry. You’ll gain new knowledge with more than 80 workshops across seven education tracks.

You’ll also want to check out the world’s largest payroll, accounts payable, and finance Expo, where you can connect with vendors to learn about the latest technologies that will enable you and your organization to implement best practices.

With so much going on, stay on top of all the latest happenings, both in the Expo and throughout Payroll Congress, by picking up your show guideCongress Today, the award-winning magazine. Available online daily and in print for three days, this is your handy resource filled with information, including conference maps, daily schedules, Expo Guide, workshop descriptions, and speaker bios. Also be sure to download the free Congress smartphone app to monitor the latest room assignments and updates. Then stay engaged during the week through social media by tracking and posting Tweets using #paycon.

If this is your first time attending Payroll Congress, welcome to our payroll family. If you’ve been to Payroll Congress before, welcome back! Being back in person this year means there’s ample opportunity to network and make important connections in payroll. Make the most of your time this week.

As President of the American Payroll Association, I look forward to meeting each one of you throughout the week as stars of our industry during this fun-filled, educational Payroll Congress.

Bruce E. Phipps, CPP
