Deborah Viers Traylor, CPP, an iconic figure who has been a key contributor to PayrollOrg for more than 40 years, was presented with a Board of Directors Award today during the 43rd Annual Payroll Congress General Session.

Traylor, who was one of the pioneering members of PayrollOrg and the first two-term president in the association’s history, earned her Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification in 1987 and spent much of her career as a trusted payroll and human capital management (HCM) systems consultant.

She extended this knowledge as a leading industry expert to her peers, presenting at Payroll Congress and contributing on PayrollOrg’s National Speakers Bureau, Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force (SPLTF), and Ask an Expert Committee for many years.

She further proved her passion locally by supporting the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter as their president and government liaison officer.

“Deborah stepped into national office as a PAYO Vice President in 2007, serving for four years before beginning her historic presidency in 2013,” said PayrollOrg Executive Director Dan Maddux.

During her tenure as PayrollOrg President, she showcased her ability to analyze organizational needs and execute an action plan while emphasizing collaboration.

She also stressed the importance of technology to better meet the needs of upcoming generations, which PayrollOrg accomplished with the selection of a new association management software to enhance customer service.

Her energy, passion, and love for PayrollOrg truly shone on the Board of Directors, where she served for 10 years before concluding her final term at this year’s Annual Business Meeting on April 29.

She consistently provided valuable input, emphasized the “good of the order,” and made time to help our members individually.

Throughout her PayrollOrg journey, Deborah has had the support of her two children, LaTascha and Christopher, and many at PayrollOrg have been privileged to know her as both a leader and a friend.

PayrollOrg has been honored to have Deborah as a trusted friend, a valued mentor, and an admired leader for nearly 40 years.

Today we honor her incredible gifts of knowledge, dedication, and service which have helped PayrollOrg and its members grow to where they are today.

“The relationships you cultivate here are invaluable,” said Traylor. “The experiences and opportunities have been instrumental in my growth. My advice—There are many ways to engage and give back. Get involved. You won’t regret it.”
