Emily Lindsay, CPA, CGMA, who has faithfully served PayrollOrg for more than 30 years in various committees and volunteer roles, was honored today with the Board of Directors Award during the 43rd Annual Payroll Congress Opening General Session.

Lindsay, who is a lecturer and instructor at American University in Washington, D.C., where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in finance and accounting, became actively involved with PayrollOrg in 1993, quickly becoming an invaluable member of the Government Relations Task Force (GRTF).

“Emily has emphasized through her years of action the importance of partnering with government officials, ensuring that they understand the impact of proposed changes on the payroll industry,” said PayrollOrg Executive Director Dan Maddux.

She has served on multiple subcommittees of the GRTF, and as PayrollOrg’s representative on the IRS’s Advisory Council (IRSAC), Electronic Tax Administration Advisory Committee (ETAAC), and Information Reporting Program Advisory Committee (IRPAC).

In addition to her industry impact through government relations, Lindsay was a longtime member of PayrollOrg’s National Speakers Bureau and frequently spoke at Payroll Congress and Capital Summit.

She also served on the Nominating and Elections Committee, and Finance and Audit Committee, contributing as a loyal member and a very knowledgeable CPA.

Lindsay continued to bring a diverse and invaluable perspective when she stepped into therole aof PayrollOrg Vice President in 2011, followed by nearly a decade of notable service on the Board of Directors which concluded at this year’s Annual Business Meeting on April 29.

Her engagement and understanding of the organization’s operations solidified Lindsay as a trusted, influential presence on the board.

She has also had the unwavering support of her children and her husband Griff, who has joined her at multiple PayrollOrg events over the years.

As she concludes her final term, PayrollOrg celebrates her many years of friendship, support, and leadership.
