Education Grant Recipients Gain More Payroll Knowledge
PayrollOrg presented education grant packages today to six lucky members during the 44th Annual Payroll Congress.
Carlyn Davis, CPP, Director of Payroll with CBRE Government and Defense Services (formerly J&J Worldwide Services), received PayrollOrg’s complete Payroll Education Grant Package, which included registration to this year’s Payroll Congress, one year of registration for any or all PayrollOrg seminars, and a complete online library of current PayrollOrg publications, plus PayTrain®.
Davis, who has worked in payroll for more than 25 years, said receiving the email notification that she’d won the complete Payroll Education Grant Package brought a big smile to her face.
“I remember reading it twice to make sure I wasn’t misunderstanding—it was such a great surprise,” she said. “I was incredibly excited. Opportunities like this don’t come along often, and it felt like a recognition not just of where I am today, but of the work and growth that got me here.”
Davis, a firm believer in the value of continuous payroll education, said the education grant will allow her to grow her payroll knowledge and share what she learns with her team and the members of the Alamo Chapter of Payroll Professionals, where she serves as the chapter president.
“Payroll is always evolving, especially in the government contracting space, and I want to make sure I’m staying ahead—for myself and for my team,” she said. “My involvement with the Alamo Chapter has reinforced that commitment to ongoing education and professional growth.”

“Receiving this education grant is both an honor and a reminder to keep pushing forward,” said Davis, who leads a team of five dedicated payroll professionals who support a complex multi-state and international workforce.
“Throughout my career—through my role, my involvement with the Alamo Chapter and PayrollOrg, and even just the employees we support every pay period—I’ve seen firsthand how impactful this profession really is. Being selected feels like recognition of that journey and the work behind it, and it motivates me to continue growing and giving back to the payroll community.
“I plan to take full advantage of everything included—Congress, seminars, and the learning library. My goal is to deepen my expertise, bring back practical knowledge to my team, and also share insights with my local chapter to help support and develop other payroll professionals.”
