Employees Insist on Full Mobile Access, ADP Pre-Congress Panelists Say
Employees who get their televised entertainment on demand with Netflix and can summon an Uber ride in minutes expect and demand to access their paycheck information on their smart phones, an ADP executive said during today’s ADP Pre-Congress Luncheon session.
Dermot O’Brien, ADP’s Chief Human Resources Officer, made the remarks during the panel discussion “Your Employees and the ‘Consumerization’ Revolution.”
Panelist Melora Spriggs, CPP, PHR, SHRM-CP, the HRIS Director for US LBM Holdings, LLC, noted that 70% of Americans and 90% of 20- to 30-year-olds have smart phones.
“Know your audience, not just today, but who they will be,” she said. “While some older employees can complain at first, they come along quickly when they see how simply they can access their payroll and other company information.”
Attendee Casey Ward, CPP, Senior Payroll Administrator for the Americo Life Insurance Company, said mobile features are a competitive advantage for organizations.
“We are hiring young people who expect these kinds of systems,” she said.
The message resonated with audience member Denise Stiles.“I like the way the panel participants talked about problems they had overcome with the new technologies,” said Stiles, a Senior Accountant for the City of Covington, Georgia. “I found it interesting how they had similar problems and how they solved them.”
