Education Grant Recipients Share Passion for Learning
Two APA members expressed their gratitude as they accepted the Donald W. Sharper Education Grant and the Global Cash Card Payroll Education Grant during Thursday’s General Session at Congress.
Natalie Lopez, CPP, received the APA’s grant, and Stephanie Ernsting, CPP, CPA, CMA, received the Global Cash Card grant.
Lopez, Senior Manager of Global Payroll for the American Bureau of Shipping in Houston, attended this year’s Annual Congress and will be able to attend all other APA seminars or conferences of her choice at no cost for one year. In addition, she will receive a complete library of APA publications.
“Mentoring others is my passion,” she said. “This grant provides me the resources and reinforces my determination to give back to the payroll profession by teaching at the Houston Chapter CPP/FPC Study Group, presenting sessions at monthly membership meetings either at my chapter or other local chapters, and continuing to support the Texas Payroll Conference.”
Ernsting, Director of Global Business Services for Bemis Company, received a 2017 Congress registration and round-trip airfare. She also will receive a complete library of all APA books and publications for one year at no cost.
“During the rest of my time at Congress, I plan on attending new sessions and hanging out after each session to network with the session leaders,” she said. “My second objective is to meet new people with the same passion for payroll that I have. I know I am among many of my payroll friends at Congress.”
Leah Thomas, CPP, and Kevin Valuet, CPP, received APA Course/Conference Grants, entitling them to a free registration to the APA educational course or conference of their choice.
Three additional members will receive a one-year subscription to Payroll Source Plus:
- Linda Springer, CPP
- Timothy Walstrum, CPP
- Linda Werts, CPP
Patricia Zych, CPP, received the Global Cash Card Payroll Publication Grant. She will receive a library of all APA books and publications for one year.
