On Thursday, May 17, Max van der Klis-Busink, RPP, a familiar name to subscribers of the Global Payroll Management Institute (GPMI) and to readers of Global Payroll magazine, became the first recipient of GPMI’s Global Vision Award.

He received the award during the American Payroll Association's (APA) 36th Annual Congress in National Harbor, Maryland.

As he stood at the podium offering his thanks for the unexpected honor, van der Klis-Busink invited his colleagues to join in his spirit of gratitude.

“Please stand up,” he said. “We’re going to do a Dutch thing: Hug the person next to you and thank them for being them.”

With that, he promised “never to miss another APA Annual Congress” and concluded his brief remarks by saying, “If you want to know anything about payroll in the Netherlands, come find me. I’ll be here until Saturday.”

The Global Vision Award recognizes a leader in global payroll at a time when the need for global payroll knowledge has soared. As a passionate advocate for global payroll compliance, van der Klis-Busink fits the bill.

The Payroll Manager Netherlands, Shell International BV, specializes in building payroll compliance models that adapt to ever-changing business needs.

After becoming a GPMI subscriber in 2015, he quickly volunteered his time and expertise by writing articles for Global Payroll and co-authoring and presenting GPMI webinars.
