Preparing the next generation for the workforce involves more than just helping them land a job; it requires equipping them with the financial tools and knowledge they need to manage fiscal responsibility.

The Money Matters program introduces students to essential paycheck basics covering topics like completing a Form W-4, Employee’s Withholding Certificate, understanding payroll taxes, and exploring the different ways employees receive their pay. Through this program, students build the financial understanding they need to confidently enter the workforce.

Volunteering to teach Money Matters in your community is more than just a chance to give back—it’s an opportunity to make a measurable impact. In 2025, more than 250 volunteers helped students nationwide understand their paychecks, gain practical financial knowledge, and even explore a career in payroll. This year, volunteers can again play a key role and will receive 1 RCH credit, along with a citation of recognition from PayrollOrg Executive Director Dan Maddux.

The impact of the Money Matters program extends beyond the classroom with the Money Matters Scholarship. Through this initiative, PayrollOrg and Chime will award one $5,000 scholarship and two $1,000 scholarships two times throughout the year.

Eligible applicants include high school juniors and seniors, as well as those pursuing or planning to pursue higher education or further learning. Applications are due May 29 and October 16.
