APA Recognizes 10 Honorees for Meritorious Service
The APA honored 10 exceptional individuals with Meritorious Services Awards for their leadership and outstanding service to the Association. The awards were presented during the 40th Annual Payroll Congress Awards General Session on May 11.
The details of each recipient’s service to the APA, both locally and nationally, are listed accordingly:
Shirley Brickous, CPP, is the Director of Payroll and Travel Expenses at Gordon Foods. She has been a member of the APA since 2009. Her volunteer service includes the Strategic Payroll Leadership Task Force (SPLTF), the National Speaker’s Bureau, the Shared Services Task Force, and the Best Practices, Global Issues and Manufacturing Best Practices Subcommittees of the SPLTF.
Robin Davis, CPP, is the Associate Controller of Payroll and Tax at the University of South Florida and has been an APA member since 2009. Locally, she serves as President of the Bay to Gulf Area APA Chapter. Her volunteer service includes the SPLTF, the Government Relations Task Force (GRTF), the Electronic Payments Committee, the Social Networking Committee, the Educational Institutions Subcommittee of the SPLTF, and the Child Support, Garnishments and Electronic Payments Subcommittees of the GRTF.
Michelle Flowers, CPP, is the Payroll Director at Highlight Warren and has been a member of the APA since 2014. Her volunteer service includes the SPLTF, the Certification Item Development Task Force, the Hotline Referral Service, the Social Networking Committee, the Education Advisory Committee, the Board of Contributing Writers, the Emerging Technologies, the Manufacturing Best Practices and the Best Practices Subcommittees of the SPLTF, the Unemployment Insurance Workgroup of the GRTF, and the Payroll Cards and Electronic Payments Subcommittees of the GRTF.
Donna Gettings, CPP, is the Vice President of Quality at Adams Keegan, Inc., and has been an APA member since 2009. She currently serves as President of the Memphis Chapter and is past president of APA’s North Mississippi Chapter. Her volunteer service includes the GRTF, the Shared Services Task Force, the Chapter Recognition Committee (CRC), the Early Wage Access/On-Demand Pay Workgroup of the GRTF, and the Child Support, Garnishments and Federal Issues Subcommittees of the GRTF.
Mindy Mayo, CPP, serves as the Managing Director for KPMG, LLP. She has been a member of APA since 1998. Locally, she has served in the APA’s Silicon Valley Chapter and has past affiliations with the East Bay and the San Francisco Bay chapters. She has served on the APA’s National Speaker’s Bureau, the Unemployment Insurance Workgroup of the GRTF, and the Federal Issues and State and Local Topics Subcommittees of the GRTF.
Chester Morgan, CPP, is the Human Resources and Payroll Manager at Stream Realty Partners, LP. He joined the APA in 2005 and is an active member of the Dallas APA Chapter. His volunteer services include the GRTF, the Hotline Referral Service, the Best Practices Subcommittee of the SPLTF, the Board of Advisors, and the Child Support, Garnishments, Federal Issues and State and Local Topics Subcommittees of the GRTF.
Martin Rule is the Senior Manager at Ernst & Young LLP and has been a member of the APA since 2017. He has served as a representative to the IRS Advisory Council (IRSAC). His volunteer service also includes the Educational Institutions Subcommittee of the SPLTF, the Unemployment Insurance Workgroup of the GRTF, and the Federal Issues Subcommittee of the GRTF.
Alma Stewart, CPP, is the U.S. Payroll Tax Manager for Intuit, Inc. She joined the APA in 2006 and has previously served as the education chair with the Northern Lights Alaska Chapter. Her volunteer service includes the GRTF, the Hotline Referral Service, Certification Board, Certification Item Development Task Force, the Electronic Payments Subcommittee, and the Child Support, Garnishments and Electronic Payments Subcommittees of the GRTF.
Erin “Iggy” Svoboda, CPP, is the Senior Manager of Payroll and Mobility at Clif Bar and joined the APA in 2009. She has been active in the APA San Francisco Bay Chapter since 2007 and has continuously served on numerous chapter committees. Her APA volunteer service includes the SPLTF, the Global Education Advisory Committee, National Speakers Bureau, the Education Advisory Committee, and the Global Issues and Best Practices Subcommittees of the SPLTF.
Mark Thornton, CPA, CPP, is the Payroll Tax Supervisor at Southern Company. He joined the APA in 2013 and has served on several APA committees, which include the Social Networking Committee and the Certification Item Development Taskforce.
