luncheon.jpgToday’s employees want and expect a “consumer experience” in the workplace, and payroll will play a vital role in making it happen. In today’s Pre-Congress Luncheon, Dermot O’Brien, ADP’s Chief Human Resources Officer, will lead a panel discussion on the opportunities payroll and human resources leaders have to shape the employee experience.

“Your Employees and the ‘Consumerization’ Revolution” will begin at 11:15 a.m. at the APA’s 35th Annual Congress in Orlando.

Panelists are:

  • Melora Spriggs, CPP, PHR, SHRM-CP, HRIS Director, US LBM Holdings, LLC
  • Lindsay Willis, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Vice President of HR, LHP Capital, LLC
  • Ben Almeida, PHR, SHRM-CP, VP of Partnership and Integration, AppColony
  • Margaret Davis, CPP, Senior Payroll Analyst, KinderCare Education, LLC

HR practitioners face employee demands for simplicity and intuitiveness. Employees demand that the tools they use at work be as easy to use as those they use to order a product online at home.

The focus on “consumerizing” the HR and payroll experience, including through smart devices, will have an impact on employee and manager satisfaction scores reported to business leaders. The panel discussion will discuss advances that already have been made and the opportunities that still lie ahead.

“At ADP we approach the design and usability of our solutions with the employees of our clients in mind,” O’Brien said. “Our innovations have the potential to change how millions of people work, and it’s our job to make the complex easy.  Creating solutions that employees enjoy using helps increase employee engagement.”

O’Brien cited the ADP Mobile Solutions app, which shows a person’s payroll in a new and dynamic way and is used by more than 10 million people, as an example of the consumerization of technology.

“In addition to payroll, our mobile app supports an average of 1,000 HR transactions per second—everything from accessing Forms W-2 to approving timecards and more,” O’Brien said. “This has made it one of the most downloaded free business apps and the most downloaded app for human capital management (HCM).”
