Every year, local chapters and payroll professionals host events in honor of National Payroll Week. To reward these efforts, APA holds annual NPW Contests with different categories of recognition. Prizes include free registration for APA’s Annual Congress, free registration for APA seminars, and free subscriptions to the Payroll Source Online®!
Below are the contests that chapters and individuals can enter. The deadline for entries is Friday, September 28.
Educational Outreach & Community Service Chapter Contest
Did your chapter organize a community service event, make charitable donations, or teach paycheck basics at local high schools for Money Matters National Education Day? This is the contest for you!
In the Atlanta Chapter’s winning entry of 2017, Stacey Seminara, CPP said, “The Atlanta Chapter regards Community Service projects as a way of giving back to the community and the surrounding cities of Atlanta. We enjoy ourselves while being given the opportunity to help others. We try to offer all types of service projects and events at different times so more of our members can participate. We are always excited to help local organizations throughout our community.”
Local Government Outreach Chapter Contest
Gaining government support through proclamations during National Payroll Week is an excellent way of promoting the payroll profession. In 2017, the Alamo Chapter of the APA won 1st Place receiving 15 proclamations.
Local Media Outreach Chapter Contest
Did you spread the word about NPW in print, online, or on the air? Tell us all about it in your contest entry!
In 2017, the Dallas Chapter won 1st place by promoting National Payroll Week on a morning news show with students from W.T. White High School. Take a look at their media coverage here.
Chapter Photo Contest
Capture your NPW celebrations with a creative photo and enter the Chapter Photo Contest! Take a look at the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter’s winning photo from 2017, inspired by the 36th Annual Congress theme:
Individual Activity Contest
Did you host an NPW activity at work or in your community? This is your chance to win big! In 2017, Tracy Maranto-Phillips of APS Payroll won first place for hosting a food drive, promoting NPW on social media, and planning a company-wide celebration!
Online Survey Promotion Contest
Every year, APA uses the “Getting Paid in America” survey to gauge changing payroll trends. With the help of chapters and members who promote the survey, APA is able to produce important findings that often make media headlines.
In 2017, the newly affiliated Tallahassee Chapter won first place by promoting the survey across a variety of online platforms and hosting an event at Tallahassee City Hall.
