Is Your Chapter Rebranding?

If your chapter is still navigating the rebranding process, now is the perfect time to assess what updates are needed. Here are key steps to determine if action is required:

1. Review external branding: Does your chapter name, website, logo, or email domain still reference "APA," “American Payroll Association,” or the old APA logo? If so, updates are necessary.
   
   
2. Check internal documents: Bylaws, articles of incorporation, and bank accounts should reflect the correct chapter name.
   
   
3. Understand state regulations: Research your state's Secretary of State requirements for name changes or filing a DBA (Doing Business As).
   
   
4. Plan your updates: Your chapter board should meet to determine necessary changes (e.g., website, logo, documents) and decide whether to proceed with a full name change or a DBA filing.
   
   
5. Create a checklist and timeline: Organizing your rebranding efforts will ensure a smooth transition.
   
   
6.  In the meantime, when possible, it can be helpful to include wording noting the chapter’s affiliation with PayrollOrg (formerly known as the American Payroll Association) to help avoid any confusion for local payroll professionals.
