One of the simplest yet most powerful ways to attract new members is by keeping your chapter’s online presence fresh and up to date. When your PAYO chapter profile and website are current, potential members can easily find you, learn about your mission, and feel inspired to get involved. Let’s work together to make your chapter more visible and welcoming than ever!
Why This Matters
At this year’s Payroll Congress, our outgoing Board of Advisors (BOA) will be hosting a booth to help payroll professionals connect with their local chapters. When potential members express interest, the BOA will guide them to your chapter profile on the PAYO website, making it essential that your contact details, website links, and key information are accurate and up to date.
Many payroll professionals attending Congress will be looking for ways to stay connected once they return home. Your chapter profile may be their first impression and first step toward getting involved locally.

Is Your Chapter Rebranding?
If your chapter is still navigating the rebranding process, now is the perfect time to assess what updates are needed. Here are key steps to determine if action is required:
- Review external branding: Does your chapter name, website, logo, or email domain still reference "APA," “American Payroll Association,” or the old APA logo? If so, updates are necessary.
- Check internal documents: Bylaws, articles of incorporation, and bank accounts should reflect the correct chapter name.
- Understand state regulations: Research your state's Secretary of State requirements for name changes or filing a DBA (Doing Business As).
- Plan your updates: Your chapter board should meet to determine necessary changes (e.g., website, logo, documents) and decide whether to proceed with a full name change or a DBA filing.
- Create a checklist and timeline: Organizing your rebranding efforts will ensure a smooth transition.
- In the meantime, when possible, it can be helpful to include wording noting the chapter’s affiliation with PayrollOrg (formerly known as the American Payroll Association) to help avoid any confusion for local payroll professionals.
