Streamlining National Speaker Request and Expense Processes

APA is introducing new policies and resources for chapters who request a National Speakers Bureau member or APA staff member to speak at their meeting or event. Take a look at the new processes below and register for the Speaker Updates webinar.

 PLC and CLS 736

Request a Speaker Online

Quickly submit your request for a National Speaker with the new online form. Remember, all speaker requests must be submitted at least 45 days in advance.

Submit the form on the APA website.

Updated Expense Procedure

Going forward, all expenses for APA staff and approved National Speakers Bureau member speakers, excluding hotel, will be managed by the APA.

Here is an outline of the new procedure:

1. First, the chapter must register its event with Chapter Relations at least 90 days before the event. All events (excluding regular chapter meetings) must be registered with Chapter Relations before Speaker Administration or Certification can review their submissions.

2. After the event is registered, the chapter must submit a speaker request at least 45 days before the event. All requests must come through the Speaker Administration department for approval. Note: National Speakers Bureau members and APA staff speakers cannot individually approve a request.

3. APA’s Speaker Administration staff works with the chapter to select a speaker. The Speaker Administration staff will then share a contract with all anticipated speaker and travel costs. The chapter must sign the contract and submit a deposit (if necessary).

4. Once the APA receives a final contract and deposit, the chapter will work directly with the speaker to book a hotel (if necessary).

5. After the event, the chapter will receive an invoice from the APA for any outstanding expenses.
