Make a Difference on Money Matters National Education Day

Money Matters National Education Day, September 6, is held during National Payroll Week in an effort to educate upcoming generations of employees on important paycheck essentials through the help of local volunteers. It’s easy to become a MMNED volunteer and your chapter could take home great prizes and bragging rights by using its MMNED participation to win NPW contests.

Volunteering is Easy

Anyone can be a volunteer to teach paycheck basics, and you don’t have to do it alone! Teach as a group or as an individual to impact a high school, college, or youth organization in your community. Become an official MMNED program volunteer by completing the APA’s quick volunteer form. After completing the form, you and your chapter will receive the easy-to-use MMNED “Bring Home the Gold” curriculum and teaching materials, as well as marketing resources to share with schools and organizations in your area.

If your chapter is worried about the timing and unable to present a lesson on September 6, it can still present anytime through September and receive credit. In return for sharing payroll knowledge, volunteers who teach a MMNED lesson will receive 1 RCH and a special citation from the APA’s Executive Director Dan Maddux.

Win NPW Contests with MMNED Participation

In 2017, chapter volunteers taught the MMNED lesson to over 4,000 students. All chapter members who volunteer will be counted towards the APA’s National Education Champion Regional Contest. Region 7 brought home the gold last year and won the National Education Champion Regional Contest with the help of the Charm City Payroll Association, Greater Nashville Chapter, Richmond Chapter, and Washington Metro Area Chapter.

Getting involved in local schools can also make a great addition to your chapter’s Educational Outreach and Community Service Contest entry. The first place winner will receive a free registration to the 37th Annual Congress!
