As of May 5, 2023, Nicole Orr, CPP decided to step down as Region 6 Board of Advisor due to personal circumstances. PAYO is thankful for the time Nicole served as Region 6 Advisor and hope to have her serve again in the future.

Carrie Louise Hovell, CPP, accepted the remainder of the Region 6 term through May 31, 2024. We want to share with you a little bit more about your Advisor.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m originally from Cape Cod, Massachusetts but reside in Northern Virginia (outside DC). I have been in payroll 25 years now (just know that hurts me to type that now). I love going to the theatre and have season tickets at the Kennedy Center since the 2000-2001 season. Craft fairs are my favorite place to be because my grandmother taught me how to count back change when I was 5 from her booth. And I do know how to craft too. I collect random things. Right now, I’m stuck on Yeti products.

How long have you been involved with PAYO and Local Chapters?

I’ve been involved with the WMAC since 1999 and PAYO since 2004 just after I earned my CPP.

What goal would you like to achieve as a Regional Advisor?

To be a matter of support, guidance, and developer. I want to be there to help with ideas and give feedback if warranted. I can help with vendors, speakers, and other areas a chapter is struggling as I have participated in most committees in my local chapter over the last 20 years. I utilized my chapter’s CPP Study Group to prepare for my CPP exam, so I support chapters helping members to get ready for the test.

What advice would you like to give to the chapters in your region?

Always ASK! Don’t be afraid to ask a question. The only stupid question is the one not asked. I want to be a help to the local chapters but without knowing they have a question; I can’t be of help. So please ASK! I’m here for you.Region 6 Map

How do you use social media to help promote and market the chapters in your region? What handles do you use? What is your handle/profile name?

I utilize Facebook and LinkedIn to show off location chapters and statewide/region conferences. You can see I’m quite active with the WMAC and VSPC so I am here to help getting the word out for their events. My profile name is Carrie Louise Hovell on both medias.

How do you plan to interact with chapters in your region?

If a chapter or statewide/regional conference would like me to attend a board meeting, I’m on board. I am happy to contribute if they would like me to or to be there as support. I will utilize the LinkedIn group. I will be hosting Regional Meetings quarterly but am also happy to meet with a chapter at any time.
