To kick off our month long celebration, here are some fun facts about National Payroll Week.
- National Payroll Week® is a public awareness campaign designed to recognize the efforts of professionals in the payroll industry. Hosted by the American Payroll Association, NPW is held annually during the week of Labor Day in the United States.
- The NPW Slogan, “America Works Because We’re Working For America” was worded to illustrate the unique partnership among America’s workers, payroll professionals, and critical government programs such as social security, Medicare, fair labor standards, and child support.
- National Payroll Week also doubles as an educational campaign through Money Matters National Educational Day. Volunteers teach area teens about the elements of a paycheck, explain the amount of taxes that are withheld, and how those taxes are calculated.
- APA uses National Payroll Week® to host several NPW Contests to encourage local chapter participation. Contests ranging from the Chapter Promotion Contest to the Individual Activity Contest, promise great prizes to the winners of these fun competitions!
- National Payroll week first launched in 1996, making this wonderful festivity 21 years old! The Richmond Chapter receiving a goverment proclamation during the first NPW in 1996.
