The very first Texas Payroll Conference (TPC) was held in San Antonio in 1989, and there was no better city to celebrate our 30th year than in the place where it all began.
Over 375 professionals from across the state of Texas, as well as from California, Florida, New York, and Mississippi, gathered for the 30th TPC conference at the Hill Country Resort and Spa, September 11-14, 2019. This rustic retreat tucked away in the Texas Hill Country provided a memorable experience including family history and Texas hospitality.
We continued the TPC tradition by offering 70 workshops, five general sessions, and hearing from many subject matter experts and leaders in their respective fields and industries. Special guest, Dan Maddux, Executive Director of the American Payroll Association, welcomed everyone to San Antonio and gave a humorous and delightful start to the 30th anniversary.
One Texas payroll tradition, dating back to 2001, is the presentation of the Texas Payroll Professional of the Year award. The newest recipient of this prestigious award was Natalie Lopez, CPP. Natalie is dedicated to the APA, her local chapter, TPC, and her family and friends. She has a deep desire to “pay it forward” in the payroll community and has volunteered countless hours mentoring other payroll professionals. Natalie strives to be the best payroll professional she can be and is a great role model to us all!
Since San Antonio is home to several military bases and TPC started on September 11th, we paid special tribute to the sacrifices of all those who have served in the United States armed forces, as well as our first responders. We held a special charity event dinner for the Wounded Warrior Project and ended with a champagne and s’mores reception. It was truly an inspiring and moving evening, with both TPC and its attendees honored to support the organization.
The Mission of TPC is to continuously enhance the payroll profession by providing education, networking, and professional development opportunities to individuals in payroll and related fields. To see all that we have achieved since those first few conferences confirms the belief that we have held since its inception: TPC is well-worth the investment.
Make sure you don’t miss the train to Frisco for the 31st annual conference to be held September 23-26, 2020 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton. We want to help you to keep your payroll on track!
