Get ready to celebrate National Payroll Week (NPW) with your payroll chapter, payroll team, and/or co-workers. NPW is Monday, September 2 – Friday, September 6, 2024. Here are just a few ways to get friends, family, co-workers, and the payroll team involved.
- Spread the word about the 2024 “Getting Paid in America” survey.
Share the link – www.nationalpayrollweek.com. At work if you have a community board such as SharePoint or Teams, post the information on how to participate in the survey. Let them know the survey helps the PayrollOrg determine the impact of changing trends and attitudes towards payroll, including time and attendance topics. Just by participating, they will be entered to win a free paycheck and dream vacation. You can only have a chance to win if you complete the survey.
- Go shopping for your NPW gear.
There are a lot of fun options to show off this year’s NPW theme. Each year we have a lapel pin for the team and many of us collect them. Or you can get balloons to fill the payroll office during the week of celebration. Check out the options at the NPW store (www.nationalpayrollweek.com/store/). When you make a purchase, be sure to provide your local chapter’s name so PayrollOrg can see the chapters supporting NPW.
- If you are at the office with your co-workers, you can make the week a lot of fun.
Give NPW merchandise to your co-workers so they can celebrate with your team. Put a bowl out with PAYDAY and 100Grand candy bars so co-workers visit your office throughout the week. Have a cupcake party and have the cupcakes frosted in the NPW theme colors. A sweet treat will always bring the co-workers to the break room. If possible, cater a lunch into the office where your team can tell everyone about NPW and the survey, then enjoy a great lunch with a cake or cupcakes. Sharing the experience with your co-workers celebrates not just the payroll team but the employees, for they are the reason we work as hard as we do.
- Volunteer with your chapter and help collect proclamations from your local and state governments.
It can be as simple as reaching out to your town/city legislators or state government. Many of them are excited to show off the positives going on with their community. It is a wonderful way to spread the word out to your community at a meeting where you receive the proclamation.
- Finally, enter in the NPW contests with PayrollOrg!
Visit payroll.org/chapters/chapter-contests/national-payroll-week and show how you participated in this year’s NPW. Every level of help to get the word out about NPW is helpful to PayrollOrg and NPW’s mission of celebrating the economic, cultural, and social achievements of employees across America. Plus, you could win a prize for your participation in spreading the word and celebrating NPW!
Get started today. There is still time to plan your team’s celebration. If you are a small payroll team, include your Finance/Accounting and Human Resources teams. They are part of the team that pays people so don’t leave them out. Thank you for what you do every day for the payroll profession and your employees. Happy National Payroll Week!
