7 Points to Consider when Entering the Best Statewide or Regional Meeting Contest

March 3rd.  What does that date mean to you? Is it a birthday, a big work event, an anniversary you may have forgotten?  Whatever the occasion may be, you should at least remember this day for one reason.  It’s the DEADLINE for the Best Statewide or Regional Meeting Contest.

Lisa Wachter, CPP, of the Tennessee Statewide Board shares some advice for your Statewide or Regional Meeting:

  1. Start planning early and take a lot of pictures to help tell your story.
  2. Book the venue one year in advance
  3. Form a committe that can dedicate the right amount of time to the planning activities of the conference.
  4. Participate in APA events to learn the ins and outs of planning APA events.
  5. Communicate regularly with your team and engage all the chapter presidents for the area of which you are planning the conference whether it is a Regional or a Statewide event.
  6. Reach out to the APA Board of Advisor for your region and make sure they know about your conference.
  7. Make sure all the chapters being represented are following the rules of the new APA Chapter Guide to re-affiliate each year and update their officer board.

To avoid conflicts between chapter activities, APA events, and other chapter events, local chapters must submit a proposed agenda of their Statewide or Regional meetings to the Chapter Relations Department for approval, using the Statewide or Regional Meeting Registration Form, at least ninety (90) calendar days in advance of the event. In addition, registering your Statewide or Regional Meeting with the Chapter Relations Department will get you free materials from the APA!

There is still has time to submit your entry.  Please download the flyer for the Best Statewide or Regional Meeting Contest HERE. Show us how your chapter’s statewide went this year and your chapter could win!
